Unfortunately, he died today at his home."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Fans are sad about the sudden death of GENERAL HOSPITAL actor Doug Sheehan, who was 75 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the famous soap opera, Doug played Joe Kelly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He \u201cpassed away peacefully\u201d in his home in Big Horn, Wyoming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Kane Funeral Home put the news of his death on its website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The funeral home said that Doug died \u201cwith his loving wife [Cate Abert] by his side.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cause of death has not yet been made public, and no other information has been shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fans of \u201cLOVED HIM\u201d took to social media to mourn the actor after the sad news spread a week later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On July 8, someone wrote on X, \u201cVery sad news.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tearsoffaith.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/6-13-771x1024.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14523\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLoved him as Joe.\u201d Even though Ben and Val had some nice times together, I always wanted Gary and Val. Too many beloved soap vets are leaving us,\u201d wrote someone else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am sorry for the loss of Doug Sheehan and will pray for his family.\u201d He played Joe Kelly on General Hospital from 1979 to 1982. It breaks my heart to hear this. A third said, \u201cHe will be missed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSorry to see that General Hospital and Knots Landing alum Doug Sheehan has passed,\u201d a fourth note said. \u201cI met him at a press event many years ago, and I recall him being just as amiable as his on-screen persona suggested he was.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOh no, unfortunately, another great General Hospital actor has died.\u201d Doug Sheehan is an entertaining, charming, and very skilled person. He was born in Santa Monica, California, in 1949.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From then on, he played lawyer Joe Kelly on General Hospital all the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regular might not be the right word for him because he was in 205 episodes from 1979 to 1982.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Daytime Emmy nomination was made for him for this role as Outstanding Actor in a Supporting Role in a Daytime Drama Series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He went on to get many more TV roles, including one on CBS\u2019s Dresden, a spinoff of Dallas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From 1983 to 1988, he played reporter Ben Gibson. He also had small roles on Cheers, Columbo, MacGyver, and Diagnosis Murder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His last movies were What I Like About You and Sabrina the Teenage Witch, in which he played Sabrina\u2019s (Melissa Joan Hart) dad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For thirty-one years, Doug was married to Cate Abert.
